Coming soon to West Main Artists Co-op in Spartanburg, South Carolina an invitation to all artists, 18 years or older, residing in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee to apply for acceptance into WMAC 2019.  This is the first regional, juried exhibition presented by the Co-op with the intention of it becoming an annual event to showcase the amazing diversity of work within this southern region.  The exhibition will take place within our 2000 square foot gallery space, The [email protected] Main.

WMAC is the only studio art co-op in Spartanburg County and art is produced and on display throughout the 20,000 square foot building, which is a former church. The exhibitions, workshops, performances, and educational opportunities, along with artists’ studios, subsist in the creation of a unique environment, a one-of-a-kind facility housing like-minded individuals who share a common creative consciousness.

The City of Spartanburg is quickly becoming an “arts” destination and the Co-op attracts visitors from across the state and beyond.

The West Main Artists Co-op was organized in the fall of 2009 by a group of local artists led by artist and retired Air Force pilot, Howard Solomon, and Converse College Art Professor, Teresa Prater. WMAC opened to the public in the spring of 2010. It is a non-profit all-inclusive arts center dedicated to presenting quality exhibitions, performances and educational programs. WMAC is located in a 20,000 square foot building that was formerly the West Main Baptist Church. It is home to over 50 visual and performing artists. Its large auditorium, “The Venue,” formerly the church sanctuary, has recently been renovated into a beautiful space that may be rented for special occasions and features movable walls that can be reconfigured in various ways for exhibition, performance, or reception space. In addition to galleries and individual studio spaces, it houses common use areas, including a large pottery studio, a printery, a silk screen studio, and a workshop area.
