Painter and pensman, illustrator and designer with over 30 years of experience in the arts, my creative explorations range from delineating the mundane to capturing the extraordinary. Even when my subject matter is animal, plant, or object, I try to interject some aspect of humanity into my work. For example, I will explore relationships between trees as if they were people. A forest may become a dance, a party, or a street scene.
Raised in Charlotte, Scott Cunningham attended both Brevard College and the University of North Carolina. Following graduation, he spent the better part of a year living in Switzerland. An award-winning artist, he put his fine art production on the back burner while pursuing a commercial arts career and a deep involvement in arts advocacy. Now art is flowing out of his studio at WMAC, providing imagery that populates his new fine art website.
From 1999 to the present, Cunningham has owned and operated several websites advocating historical and cultural endeavors supporting the community of artists in upstate South Carolina and western North Carolina, the most prominent being The Artist Index.
